The fruit
Known in English as chestnut rose or Guizhou prickly pear, Rosa roxburghii is botanically a rose. It flowers in pink, double blooms each spring; by late summer each bloom has become a round, spined hip, 3–4 cm across, ripening from green to deep gold.
It grows on the thin, mineral-rich soils of Guizhou's limestone karst, 1,000 metres and more above sea level. Freshly picked, the fruit is sharp, floral and astringent — closer to sea buckthorn than to any pear — so it is pressed, dried or fermented within hours of harvest.
Guizhou heritage
In the Miao and Dong villages of Guizhou, rice, fruit and soups have been fermented in clay jars for generations — and a raised bowl is how guests are welcomed. Rosa roxburghii wine grows out of that same tradition: patient, local, made to be shared.
Composition
Beyond vitamin C, the fruit carries superoxide dismutase (SOD), flavonoids, polyphenols, polysaccharides and more than twenty amino acids. Every product ships with third-party lab data.

Research
Studies examine the fruit's antioxidant capacity, polysaccharides and flavonoids. Much of the work is still laboratory research; human trials are recent and few.

Randomised controlled trial · 2024
Seventy healthy women took 20 mL daily for eight weeks. Against the control group, the supplement group showed measurable gains in skin hydration, elasticity and tone, with no adverse effects reported.
